Filming Prep 3 (Almost There!)

 Welcome back!

Our filming date is set for Monday, February 19. In the meantime, we have been working on other aspects of our opening. Since we don't yet have equipment and we won't be meeting on-set with our actors for another few days, my team and I are focusing on some of the things that we can currently control.

The opening will consist of diegetic and non-diegetic music, as there will be some party tunes playing, along with an unsettling song playing over the entire beginning (until the sound from the main character's alarm clock becomes the focus). My idea was to have soft, unsettling singing backed by equally unsettling instrumentals, but after discussion with my team I've somewhat changed this idea. I asked Chloe if she has any song ideas, and she sent me a couple of links to siren (the mermaid kind) sounds, which I think match the unsettling vibe I was going for. I still like the idea of having singing though, and I have been trying to do some sound mixing with it. I feel like having lyrics will make the sound mix better over the party music, but that is something that we will have to mess around with later to work it out. 

I was trying to find some copyright-free music so we can avoid any potential problems, and I eventually found a playlist for it on Spotify-- there are a few songs that I think will be good for the party music, so we are set there. I have been working on mixing some different songs and some of my own lyrics together, and it has kind of worked. There is still a lot I have to adjust, but now that I have an idea of how it will go, I’m going to wait until after filming to continue working on it so I can match everything up with the footage and editing. This week we are still communicating with some people for help in filming. Some people are going to be actors, while others are going to be helping with makeup and wardrobe, and even still we are speaking with someone who is going to help us set everything up and help us keep everything in order while we are filming. Chloe and I are going to pick up equipment on Thursday, a few days before filming. This way we will be able to get a feel for it and be prepared for Monday. We are also collecting props (for example, Chloe currently has a small bottle collection going).
