Filming Prep 2
Welcome back!
It’s been a busy week. My partners and I were finally able to set a date for our on-location walk through: Friday, February 10. Unfortunately, about an hour and a half before our planned meeting time, one of my partners cancelled. Since we are running out of time and it is difficult to schedule a date that works for everyone, we decided it was best to go through with our original plan and update her on how it went.
The walk-through was beneficial-- not only were we able to get a feel for how the film may be executed, but we also decided on camera paths, locations, doors, and other important factors that will play a part in our filming. We were also able to fine-tune our idea to better fit the specifics of our location. For example, we discussed some of the transitions we will be using, where we may place characters and props, as well as some new prop ideas. We also figured out the official wardrobe of our main character, and we took some pictures and practice footage with it too (see below).
Of course, this footage wasn’t captured with the same equipment we will be using for the film opening itself, and the actual clip for the film will be steadier and more purposefully timed. Speaking of equipment, another task we got done this week was communicating to get the things we will need. Our film teacher introduced us to someone, who came into class as a guest speaker one day, who has equipment for students to borrow. We reached out to him this week, discussing what we will need and when we will need it. We will be getting in touch with him again closer to our filming dates, another thing that we were able to work out this week.
While we don’t think filming is going to take more than a few hours (hoping I don’t regret this statement), we are planning to have things arranged in case it takes longer, we need to re-shoot anything, or any other complications arise. Our plan is to have the proper equipment between the 19th and 23rd of February, dates that we have communicated to our actors. We are working on getting more actors and confirming a date (explaining that multiple filming days is a possibility) with the ones that we already have. In addition to actors, we are also finding the right people to help out with/handle other aspects of the production.
More busy weeks to come!
