Editing... kind of

Welcome back!

Sometimes we don't make the best decisions. Sometimes we trust the wrong people. Sometimes we need to re-learn the lesson that if you want something done right, you do it yourself.

It's been a stressful week.

As I mentioned in my last post, our filming did not go to plan. We were going to try and work with it, and I have been going over the footage and trying to put things together. We ended up asking the cinematographer for some help, since the footage is not what we wanted (and, quite frankly, not the best). She said she will have the footage edited by this weekend, and while I am curious to see what she ends up with, discussion with my teammates (and a lotttt of thinking about our project as a whole) led me to the decision that we need to re-shoot. Fortunately, we filmed reasonably early on in our schedule and we do have time to re-shoot. Unfortunately, I may be the only group member available to get this done.

I already have some ideas for how the re-do will be accomplished, but I need to figure out specifically how to get the camera up the stairs while filming, and what to do about lighting. I already have a few people that should be available for the shoot, and hopefully that aspect will work out this time as well. Filming will need to be done at my house this time instead of Chloe's, and the only problem there is that I need to figure out what to do with my dogs while we are recording. For this attempt, I will be doing the filming, and everyone else will be actors or helping me out as needed.

Once I am able to get the date set for sure, I need to confirm with my actors and then find someone to play the main character (since it is unlikely that Chloe or Nevaeh will be able to fill that role this time). We are on a bit of a time crunch now, so I will be working hard and pushing to get all of this done ASAP. Hopefully filming will go well this time around, and then I can move on to editing. It may not turn out perfectly, but I think we'll be able to get something better than what we have now.

To be continued...

P.S. Here's what my premiere pro currently looks like for the original footage I've been trying to edit:
