Storyboard
Welcome back film lovers!
Today I have for you... my team's storyboard! Now that we had our research done, it was time to get even more specific and begin working on our own story. Of course, we already had an idea for the story, but we were now able to focus on it more and develop the details.
Here is our storyboard:
We've already chosen that our filming location is going to be at Chloe's house (shoutout to her aladyblug), so we used some pictures that she took herself and some old ones from online for our settings. I added the characters to the pictures, which was kind of fun once I got into the rhythm for it.
The context for our film opening is that a teenage girl was having a party at her house and ended up killing all of her friends. This is implied in the opening, but it would be developed further if we were creating an entire film. The intro begins by showing the pool in the main character's backyard, where there are a bunch of dead teenagers. The opening consists mainly of a continuous shot, where the camera moves through the house and up to the main character's bedroom. As the camera moves through the house, there are flashbacks to the party, and teenagers can be seen dancing, drinking, and having a good time. The scenes then return to the teenagers being dead and bloody. This is what is represented in the first 7 frames of the storyboard.
One of my favorite aspects of our opening is how we are currently planning to reveal the main character. As the camera goes up the stairs, it remains very close to the ground. Once it turns into the main character's bedroom, there is a slow boom shot (where the camera physically moves upwards) and the psycho main character gets put in the frame. I also love the next parts of the intro, as the sound of an alarm clock that has been subtly fading into the film is used as a transition into the scene where the main character wakes up and turns off her alarm the morning before the party. As soon as she slams the alarm to turn it off, the screen cuts to black and the title fades in. This is what is represented in the last two slides of our storyboard.
Creating the storyboard made our film start becoming real for me, and I am excited to get to working on it some more.
To be continued...
