Target Audience
Welcome back to another Thursday Turtle blog post!
As part of the research for our film opening, my teacher instructed my class to create surveys. They were to consist of 7-10 questions relating to our film genre and any specific things we wanted to incorporate into our films. Our film falls under the horror category, so here’s what we came up with:
Once we had created the survey, our next step was to get people to take it. I contacted my friends, family, and some other people too. My group also had the link posted on social media. We had a pretty good outcome, with a reasonable number of responses and varying age groups. After a few days, I closed the survey and we began making an infographic to present our data:
The survey questions were based largely on the need for our group to want to manipulate the emotions of our audience as best we could. We needed to know what would scare our audience the most, so we asked people what scares them the most. We also asked questions that would help us understand the kind of atmosphere that people like to have when they are watching horror, which can be useful for messing around with the level of safety and fear the audience experiences.
When coming up with the survey questions, I tried to think of a range of perspectives for answers, especially for the questions that may not have black and white answers. I also included the "other" option for some of those questions, as I didn't want people to have to choose a response that didn't really apply to them. My group members also provided some pretty good insight as to possible questions and answer choices. Nevaeh had some good ideas for pictures on the infographic, and I like how they look on the poster.
It was interesting to see the survey results, and next we will get into the making of our story.
To be continued...
